Enables an individual to learn how to change their physiological activity for the purposes of improving health and performance. We use instruments to measure physiological activity such as heart function, breathing, muscle activity, and skin temperature. These instruments accurately "feed back" information to the user. The presentation of this information — often in conjunction with changes in thinking, emotions, and behavior — supports desired physiological changes. Over time, these changes can endure without continued use of an instrument.

For example, training your Heart Rate Variability (HRV) will involve measurement of both respiration and heart rate. You'll learn to calm your system during both resting and stressful situations using computerized feedback. Training to improve your HRV can result in improved emotional control, mood, concentration, performance, stress management and decreased blood pressure. As well as decrease your risk for cardiovascular disease.



Poor breathing results in anxiety, stress, panic attacks, shortness of breath and more. When you breathe properly and rhythmically, you are fine-tuning your cardiovascular system to function at its best. This allows you to balance your body’s natural adrenal rush during a stressful situation and benefits your overall health.

Heart Rate Variability (HRV)

HRV is the interval of time between heartbeats. The lack of variability is a sign of severe physiologic compromise.  Research indicates decreased, or low, HRV is associated with mortality risk, decreased immune function, and stress. Low HRV can result from unhealthy and stressful emotional states that disrupt the hearts rhythms and begin a cascade of toxins into the body as well. High, or good, HRV is when the intervals between heartbeats vary. It reflects the hearts flexibility to respond or adapt to any demand placed upon it by the body/mind.    It is associated with decreased cardiac risk, healthy immune system function, emotional balance/control, enhanced creativity and performance and an overall good health profile via autonomic nervous system balance.

HRV training can result in a host of benefits: improved emotional control, decreased blood pressure and improved stress management, improved mood, concentration, performance, and HRV directly influences your immune system.


Much like we can measure and train the brain’s electrical activity, we can do something similar with a muscle’s electrical activity. sEMG is a modality of biofeedback used in treatment of body tension, especially caused by stress, tension headaches, anxiety, pain, neuromuscular rehabilitation (e.g. stroke), and for improving bio-regulation for relaxation and calm.


Peripheral temperature training involves training an individual to voluntarily increase or decrease his/her temperature in the fingers and toes. Peripheral temperature training is a modality used extensively in the field of biofeedback as a treatment for chronic headaches, Raynaud’s, hypertension, decreased anxiety and stress response of the nervous system.

Improvement, Without the Side Effects

Biofeedback is a more specific and long-term treatment than medication. Medication may mask the symptoms, or provide temporary relief from a condition, but is does not treat the source of the problem in your physiology. Many medications also come with negative side effects including physiological and personality changes, sleep issues and addiction.

Biofeedback treats the root of the problem. Once positive changes are made, they tend to hold for the long-term.
