In the first study of its kind, measurable changes in the structure and function of non-concussed high school football players’ brain’s were detected. Using pre and post imaging and performance metrics and helmets outfitted with data recoding devices, the research team was able to show a decrease in function and changes in white matter from a single season of play. This type of research, although different from the study we are running in regards to treatment, is crucial to the understanding of safe play and disease prevention.
