Before Your Appointment
To help your visit go smoothly, please take a few minutes to:
- Check your patient portal to complete any paperwork, sign consents, and review any pre- or post-procedure instructions.
- Confirm your medications and refills. Running out before your appointment? Let your provider know so they can make adjustments at your upcoming visit.
- Prepare any questions or topics you’d like to discuss with your provider.
- If you need labs drawn, please review the instructions below carefully.
Pre-Lab Draw Instructions
(If you’re a NEW patient to Carolina HealthSpan Institute, please make sure you are fasting for your initial bloodwork.)
(If you’re currently on hormone therapy, follow the timing that applies to your medication type.)
- Estrogen Patch: Get lab work 24–48 hours after applying your patch.
- Testosterone / Estrogen Troche: Dissolve troche in the morning, then wait at least 4 hours and no longer than 8 hours before getting labs.
- Testosterone / Estrogen Cream: Apply cream in the morning, then wait at least 4 hours and no longer than 8 hours before getting labs.
- Pellets: Get lab work 4–6 weeks after pellet insertion.
- Testosterone Injection: Get lab work 4–5 days after injection.
