Migraines, in many cases, can be linked to exhaustive and prolonged stress. The Brain shuts down as a defense mechanism, and normal functioning ceases to exist. Your body is actually trying to help you, but if you've had a migraine before, it's hard to understand how that is possible.
Unfortunately, common medication treatments for migraines are either not quick enough or completely ineffective. Botox® has been shown to be effective in certain situations, but is a temporary solution.
For the Neurofeedback Group - 54% of patients experienced complete cessation of migraines while 39% experienced a reduction in frequency of greater than 50%. Only 1 patient did not experience a reduction.
For the Medication Control Group - 68% of patients experienced no reduction in frequency, 20% experienced a reduction in frequency less than 50%, and only 8% saw a reduction greater than 50%. Not one patient experienced a complete cessation.
